Board of Trustees update Term 4

Sarah Lewell —

This year has flown by and it is hard to believe that we almost at the end of term 4.

One of the things the board has been collaborating on is a safe travel plan for our learners - working to ensure that they can get to and from school safely.  As part of this we are working to get a walking bus up and running and would love your support to make this happen.

We are also working with the Ministry of Education around whether our school needs a cooling system for the learning landscapes. Currently the only method of cooling that we have is to open doors and windows which on a windy nor'west day is not particularly comfortable for our learners or teachers. Hopefully the Ministry will agree with our request

As reported in the newsletter a couple of weeks ago we have just appointed 5 new staff to the team for next year. We are lucky as a school to have recruited teachers who we believe will compliment the already strong staff that we have. We look forward to welcoming them to the team.

The BOT has had a very busy year and are already looking forward to what needs to be done for next year. We have started work on setting our annual goals for the year, stating what needs to be achieved and how we will know that we have achieved it. Once these are finalised we will share these with you so that you can know what is important to us and what we are trying to focus on.

In June 2019 there will be a board of trustees election. This is a chance for any parent of a learner at Lemonwood Grove School to put up their hand and stand for election. If this is something that you think would interest you then in April or May next year we will be having a session explaining what it means to be on the board of trustees.

Many thanks, the BOT.
