Lemonwood Grove Jargon Busters 6

Nick Gunn —

Each newsletter we will provide an explanation of some of the words and phrases that we use here at LWG. This week: Lockdown

We have three emergency procedures that we have in place at Lemonwood Grove School: Fire, Earthquake and Lockdown. Each of these procedures are practiced once a term.

A lockdown is effectively the opposite of an evacuation situation where students, staff and visitors come into the buildings to stay safe from a potential threat/danger from the outside.

If the school was put into "lock down", parents would be informed of the incident either at the time, or at the end of the school day, depending on the nature of the incident. This will give parents the information they need to discuss and reassure their children around the events which triggered the lockdown.
