Sean's Spot
As we head towards the end of another term, it's important to reflect on what we have achieved together!
Thank you to everyone who has supported us over the last ten weeks especially our fantastic Board of Trustees, our hard working LINK group and all parents who have assisted with events and trips.
I also want to acknowledge our awesome staff for making the magic happen. We are so lucky to have such a committed group of teachers and support staff at LWG.
Here are some highlights:
- An excellent Education Review Office report which confirmed that our teaching and learning programmes are making a big difference to raising student achievement at LWG.
- An inaugural ski trip to Porters Pass.
- The amazing collaboration that is happening between LWG and Waitaha, especially our Kapahaka programme.
- Appointing Lisa to our staff.
- Enrolling 20 new learners and welcoming them at our Mihi Whakatau.
- A skills session with Tim from Canterbury Cricket.
- Our staff participating in Culturally responsive professional development at Ngāti Moki Marae.
- Jump Jam Star Jam event at Rolleston College.
- Consulting with our community around outside enhancements.
- Anxiety workshop facilitated by Catherine Gallagher.
- Kereru, Kahurangi and Maunga visit to the Antarctic Centre.
- #LWGRocks Faringdon!
- Maori Language Week learning.
- Kids for Kids Concert (Jaeli's solo!).
- Our swimming programme @ the Selwyn Aquatic Centre.
- Our first ever Quiz night on Saturday.
Wow, what a list!
All the best to our Kapahaka group who are participating in the Ellesmere College Annual Pō Whakangahau tonight (Thursday). We know you will represent our school with pride.
Swimming continues next week. I have been really impressed with the level of instruction so far. If you need any support around paying for the 10 lessons please contact me.
A huge 'thank you' to LINK for organising the community quiz on Saturday night. Getting behind these events and fundraisers is important as they contribute greatly to our teaching and learning programmes.
Last night Hayley and Michaela presented the outdoor enhancement community consultation data to the Board of Trustees. This was the first time this has happened at LWG, and we were very proud of how passionate they were. Here is a video of their presentation:

If you are interested in being part of a small focus group to work with the board, staff and our learners to work on a 'wish list' early next term please contact me.
This is our final full eNews for the term. Have a safe and happy holiday with your whanau and enjoy this great Spring weather.
