Sean Bailey —

Our learners have had a great start to our final term of the year. Thank you for ensuring your child/ren have come back to school refreshed and prepared for a busy 9 weeks. Our staff have spent a great deal of time over the holidays organising a number of great learning experiences for our tamariki. We thank them for their huge commitment to our awesome school.

A big LWG welcome to Lisa and all our new learners and their families. We are looking forward to formally welcoming you at our Mihi Whakatau on Tuesday at 9:30 in the hall/gym.

The major events that will take place this term include:

  • AKO Conferences
  • Mihi Whakatau
  • Dances for Schools
  • Starting our Walking/Scootering School Bus (hopefully, if there is enough interest)
  • New Parent Information Evening
  • Consultation with our Maori community
  • Science Roadshow (Tui)
  • Whole School Athletics
  • Peer Mediator Training
  • Market Day
  • End of year Celebration of Learning

Please continue to access the google calendar, our Facebook page, Linc-Ed notifications and our App posts for updates.

We are well underway in terms of our planning for 2019. The Ministry of Education has provided us with additional staffing to ensure we keep ahead with our ongoing roll growth. On Friday and Saturday, we will be interviewing for 4 roll growth positions which is very exciting.

Once we have made these appointments, we will be finalising whanau group placements and communicating this information to you. If your child(ren) are not coming back to LWG next year, can you please inform their whanau teacher by the end of next week (26 October).

Student voice is very important to us at LWG.  The Board of Trustees were really impressed with Michaela's and Haley's Outside Enhancement presentation at the end of last term. We are planning to use this data to develop a long term plan going forward. The Board of Trustees update coming out shortly will outline our current priorities.

Our Board of Trustees met on Wednesday night. One of their current priorities is developing Annual Goals for 2019 in consultation with the staff and our learners. These will be communicated with you when finalised. We thank them for their fantastic support.

Enjoy the long weekend with your whanau.

Regards

Sean | Tumuaki
