Sean's Spot

Sean Bailey —

Our learners have been making the most of the great weather we have been experiencing at the moment!

It was awesome to join our Year 3 & 4 learners at the Selwyn Sports Trust, Sport Spectacular on Tuesday. Throughout the morning they participated in a number of physical activities along with other schools in our area. I saw a number of our school values being demonstrated especially GRIT during the tug of war!

These rich outdoor education experiences are so important. As mentioned in my last spot, they provide children with many ideas to write and talk about.

I was in Kopara this week and they were doing exactly that: using their camp experiences to construct a piece of creative writing. Here is an example from Haylin:

We finally arrived at Glentui. We got into the hall and the owners talked about safety. Then we had to set up our bunks and I got a top bunk. We had to go for a giant walk and it took a few hours, but I made the walk and it woke me up too.  I went canyoning. We struggled to put on the wetsuit. I put my leg through an arm hole then I put it through the leg hole and we all put our other gear on and went off. We made it to our destination and we got to slide down a water slide and jump off a ledge! It was scary but fun at the same time. On the last day we unpacked all of our stuff and put them where the bus was going to park. We hopped on the bus and I fell asleep. It was a comfy sleep and the next minute I was at school and and then I got home and I got to see my parents again.

A big 'thank you' to our parents and caregivers who assist with these experiences. Your support is really appreciated.

I am really looking forward to taking 12 of our learners to perform at the opening of the new Faringdon Best Start Early Learning Centre on East Maddison's Road tomorrow.

Regards
