Office Sefton School —

Looking for year 7 & 8 families to help with her research.

My name is Eliza and I am a doctoral researcher from Te Herenga Waka-Victoria University of Wellington. I am doing my PhD in Tourism Management with the School of Management.

Purpose of my research: The purpose of my research is to understand how contact with local people during travel impacts children’s sense of global citizenship. I hope that my research can support educators, parents and tour operators in raising the next generation of global citizens who respect and value diversity.

Research approach: I am interviewing tamariki who are in years 7 or 8 and have travelled overseas in the past 5 years. I will be interviewing children online over Zoom. I will schedule interviews directly with families at a time that suits them (e.g. after school or during weekends). My research has been approved by the ethics committee of Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington (#29858).

Thank you so much for considering my request.

Ngā mihi nui,
