MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Term One, Week Two
Kia Ora Sefton School Whānau
I hope you all had a wonderful long weekend for Waitangi Day. The children came back buzzing from the weekend with lots of stories of swimming at Hanmer Springs, board games in Kaikoura and boating on Lake Kaniere.
Thank you to the parents and caregivers that have filled in the two surveys and returned your updated contact details for the office staff. You still have time to complete this for us. It is fantastic to get your feedback and correct information so we can continue to provide education expereinces to all children safely.
It is super exciting to see the children in the school pool. Even though it is cold, they are loving it!
Outside learning has been extemely popular! The children can be heard from the office laughing and having a great time with friends while learning outside.
The Year 7 & 8 Students has their first session at technology at Kaiapoi Borough School.
The students will be having 2 x 2 hour sessions. One in hard materials (making chocolate moulds for Year 8 and nametages for Year 7) and the other soft materials (sewing - coaster for a cup).
Students and kaiako have been setting up routines and expectations in classes using the Positive Behaviour 4 Learning model and our school values. Class treaties have been formulated and signed based on learning experiences of Te Tiriti O Waitiangi (Treaty of Waitangi). Check out Room 3's Treaty!
Newsletters are now going to be published fortnightly. Urgent information will be sent out when needed through Skool Loop, See Saw and emails. Our school website is also a great place to check on from time to time for all our information coming out.
Thanks for your ongoing support,
Heidi Moeller

Welcome Back to 2022
Kia ora tatou Sefton Whānau,
Welcome back to 2022 and to a very different start to the new school year. I must say that I would not have thought I would start my principalship like this. Thank you to all the parents that have stopped at the main gate to introduce yourselves and which children belong to you! Your support is much appreciated as we navigate Red COVID settings.
If you have any questions or concerns, please get in touch. You can call the office or email principal@sefton.school.nz. We all want school to be a safe and happy place for all our tamariki.
We will continue to keep our community fully informed about upcoming developments. Please check your notifications on the Skool Loop App and emails. Our School Website also has a dedicated publication to keep you well informed.
As we navigate through the next few months, school will look a little different (lots of outside learning). We are busy putting together contingency plans in case we have staff and families needing to self isolate or become unwell. As soon as these plans are finalised we will publish them for you to read.
For Term One the Kowai Sports events - the triathlon and swimming sports have been cancelled. We will run school based events so children have the opportunity to participate and compete.
Thank you for your ongoing support,
Heidi
