Message from the Principal
Week 9, Term Three
Kia ora koutou Sefton Whānau,
Lots of positive celebrations need to be mentioned in today’s newsletter!
Today, our Year 5 & 6 team for ePro8 are travelling into Kirkwood Intermediate for the Canterbury Regional Competition. Congratulations to the following children: Masen, Josh, Ivan and Millie. Good luck today and we look forward to hearing how the team went!
Huge congratulations to Emma and Holly for coming third place in their respective year groups at the Quad School Speech Competition yesterday!
This week we met as a new board, huge congratulations to Greg Weeks and Poppy Farrell as new board members, and to Tamara Collins for being reelected. It is wonderful to have such passionate parents that deeply care about the education of all children here at Sefton School. Thank you to the parents that put their names forward for nomination, it was an exciting time and healthy process to give our parent community choice in representation on the Sefton School Board of Trustees.
Our new board members are:
Tamara Collins (Chairperson)
Greg Weeks
Poppy Farrell
Barry Chapman
Nick Butler
Kirsty Raymer (Staff Rep)
Heidi Moeller (Principal)
2022 Hanmer Springs Forestry Camp was a huge success!! The Year 5 & 6 children had an amazing time. It was fantastic to see the children challenge themselves to complete activities, build and strengthen their friendships and become more self managing!
Huge thank you to the following parents & staff:
Samuel Ward
Anna Scott
Beau Broadhurst
Andrew Clapshaw
Hayden Cooper
Matthew Riach
Tarsh Commons
Jane Fong
Rowena Higginson
Kirsty Raymer
Ju Sharpe
Emily Woodward
Here are a selection of photos for you to enjoy!
Thank you to the parents that filled in our Before and After school Phase 2 Survey. Here are the results.
From this second survey, regretfully we do not have enough interest at this time for a child care company to set up this service in our community. We do not meet the required minimum numbers per day after further analysis.
Reminder school is closed on Monday 26 September for Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Day. The Year 7 & 8 camp to Wanui leaves at 4pm from School, so I'm looking forward to seeing the 19 children, 4 parents and 3 staff all packed up for camp and heading off.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
Mauri ora ki a koutou,
Heidi Moeller
