Tumuaki/Principal Update

Office Sefton School —

The first week has flown by and the tamariki have all settled back into school smoothly. Our term calendar continues to fill up, with our first production auditions and rehearsals underway, as we begin preparations for our end of term performance.

On Sunday we will be sending a small group of children to represent Sefton School at the opening of Te Rakiora , the new sports centre on Coldstream Rd. Our school, as part of Puketeraki Kāhui Ako ( our local community of Rangiora schools ) has been invited to combine with the Kātote Kāhui Ako      ( the Kaiapoi community of schools ) to be part of the opening pōwhiri ceremony at 12:00. All members of the community are invited to attend the ceremony and take a tour of the new facility.

As part of the Ministry of Education initiative to up skill  educationalist in Te reo Māori, school's in our community of learning ( Puketeraki ) are being offered instructional classes in te reo. We have three Sefton teachers that will be attending these classes on a Tuesday evening for the next two terms. It is a big commitment on top of their already busy workload and I thank them taking on this extra professional development in their own time, it will be hugely beneficial to our children and school.
