Kiwi Can Term 3 Wrap-Up and Looking Forward to Term 4

As we wrap up Term 3 at Kiwi Can, we celebrate the success of our focus on resilience. Our Tamariki have grown, learning how to bounce back from challenges, stay positive, and keep trying even when things get tough. The lessons were filled with engaging activities and games, helping students understand the importance of perseverance and a positive mindset.

In Term 4, our main theme is Respect. We'll explore this through mini-themes: respect for our school, respect for our community, and respect for our environment. Our Kiwi Can team has been hard at work creating fun, engaging lesson plans to ensure the tamariki not only deepen their understanding of respect but also enjoy every step of the learning journey.

We can't wait to see how our tamariki embrace these important values in Term 4, creating a positive impact on themselves and those around them.

The Bug Man - Ruud Kleinpaste

In Term 3 groups of students from Pīwakawaka, Kea and Toroa had a visit from Ruud Kleinpaste, also known as 'The Bug man,' who came to teach us all about the fascinating bugs we can find here at school and in our gardens at home.

During the session, students learned about a wide variety of native insects, including spiders, cockroaches, centipedes, worms, slugs, and many more. Ruud showed us how to handle bugs safely and what to look for when exploring the outdoors.

After the lesson, we went on a bug hunt around the school to see what creatures we could discover. Everyone was careful to treat the bugs with kindness and respect, recognizing their important role in our ecosystem.

It was fun and educational, and we’re grateful to Ruud for sharing his knowledge and passion for bugs with us!
