Our tamariki from across Te Waka Unua enjoyed a performance by the NZ Opera Group. The group consisted of a cast of very talented wahine Māori accompanied by their also talented musician on keyboard . It was a 40 minute show inspired by the story of Hinewhaititiri and the Weather Gods. It included waiata, dance and puppetry in both Te Reo Māori and English.
The performance was appreciated by all the tamariki and also teachers who thought it was an inspirational experience for our ākonga to see how telling stories through dance and music can be fun and exciting.

Celebrating Student Enthusiasm for Walk or Wheel to School Week!
Whaea Ruth — Mar 11, 2025
It was wonderful to see students joining in on Walk or Wheel to School Week! Encouraging active transportation not only promotes physical health but also helps the environment. Great job, everyone!
Walking or wheeling to school not only promotes a healthy and active lifestyle but also helps to reduce the chaos around the school gate before and after school.
By walking or cycling to school, students benefit from the physical activity and their mental well-being gets a boost by reducing stress and starting their day on a positive note.
Some of our students were delighted to also win spot prizes donated by the Christchurch City Council.
