Te Pou Toetoe, Linwood Pool Swimming Lessons

Team Ōtākaro had a very successful two weeks at Te Pou Toetoe, Linwood Pool. There was a tremendous amount of learning and a lot of fun had by all. Our students participated fully in lessons and grew in confidence while improving their swimming skills.

During the first week the lessons focused on being able to safely enter and exit the pool, building water confidence, and practicing new skills such as floating front and back, kicking, diving, and various swimming strokes. A definite favourite for all the ākonga was learning survival skills during the second week, especially having the opportunity to wear life jackets and experience being in a boat.

Year 3 Scooter Safety

Our Ōtakaro Year 3 students had a great time participating in Scooter Safety lessons earlier in the term. They learnt the importance of riding their scooters safely and being considerate of others when riding. The students practised using the school scooter track and also to use their brakes to stop safely. They learnt about sneaky driveways on footpaths and how to use the crossing. There were lots of smiles and fun during this activity.
