TE AROHA COLLEGE BOARD STATEMENT: - Our Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi in Education
Whāia te iti kahurangi, ki te tūohu koe, me he maunga teitei - Pursue the highest ideals; if you must bow, let it be to a lofty mountain.
At Te Aroha College, our priority is providing the best possible learning environment for every student. Our Strategic Annual Plan (2024–2025) centres on “Success for All,” and we believe that upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi is an essential part of delivering high-quality education and supporting the success of all learners.
As a school, we value our ongoing partnership with our local mana whenua Iwi. Honouring Te Tiriti enriches our curriculum, strengthens relationships, and ensures a learning environment where every student can thrive.
It is the position of the Te Aroha College Board that Te Tiriti o Waitangi continues to guide our curriculum, governance, and community relationships. Regardless of national policy settings, the Board remains committed to embedding the principles of Te Tiriti in our everyday practice, reflecting our values and our belief in culturally sustaining education for all.
We will continue to advocate for and provide the best learning opportunities for our school community, in partnership with mana whenua, our whānau, and the wider Te Aroha community.
