Crunch time for senior students
The recent derived grade examinations will provide a good gauge of where students are at as they prepare for the NCEA external examinations in November.
As our senior students start their final 20-something school days before the external NCEA examinations, they will need to really focus on doing their very best in the coming weeks.
It is certainly a tricky time of year as there are a number of internal assessments that are being completed with a focus on preparing well for the external examinations.
The students will be sick of me saying this but each year, 5-10 students at a minimum, miss their respective NCEA qualification by 2, 3 or 5(ish) credits. This can be heartbreaking - and avoidable. Students must treat each assessment as vitally important. We also want students to aim for Merit and Excellence endorsements. These endorsements set students apart from others and are often a great reward for a year of hard work and determination. A significant number of our students are actively trying to get these endorsements which great to see.
The key is - it is never too late. Please contact your child's Dean if you have any concerns.
