The end of Term One, 2024 is the end of an era for Peter and Diana Jager and Te Aroha College.
Peter and Diana Jager have a combined teaching service of over 60 years to Te Aroha College. Many of you who are current parents at Te Aroha College will have been taught by Peter and Diana. They have been an integral part of the community throughout this time and influenced a huge number of students in their time here.
Peter and Diana came to Te Aroha in 1990. Both Peter and Diana hail from Ngatea so this was a step closer to home. Peter was initially employed as a chemistry teacher, became Head of Science and then Deputy Principal, a position he has held for 22 years. Peter has worked with five principals and has been the consistent voice in the Senior Leadership Team during those tenures.
Diana has held a number of roles and taught in many areas including leading our Special Needs Support, Second Language Learning, teaching Social Studies, Mathematics and Food Technology. However, it has been her role as our International Students manager that she has made her mark. She has built the reputation of Te Aroha College in the International Student market and we are highly regarded school, catering for the needs and providing a great experience for these students and their teachers.
We held a formal farewell on Friday 5th April with former staff and community members attending the event to acknowledge the contribution these wonderful people have made to the school and the community.
