As we celebrate the end of Term One we are entering a period of change.

As you will see, we are farewelling two long serving staff members at the end of this Term. Peter are Diana Jager have been an integral part of the school and community for the last 30 years. This is a significant milestone and something we have acknowledged and celebrated.

As is the case with change, when we farwell we also welcome new staff members to our team. Megan Dirpose is our new International Student manager. Many of you will know Megan and we look forward to her skills and enthusiasm in continuing the very good work that Te Aroha College is well known for. Alongside Kate Wassell, who continues to be  our International Homestay coordinator, I look forward to seeing the International Student programme thrive in the years to come.

We also welcome Angela Valencia to our teaching team. Angela is no stranger to many of you - especially if your children have gone to Stanley Avenue School. Angela is a highly regarded teacher and will be  teaching junior English and Social Studies and will be an important person in supporting our literacy programmes. I would like to thank Mr Jordan Scott who has been in a fixed-term position teaching those English and Social Studies classes in Term One.

As you will also see in this newsletter we have a new Deputy Principal, Peter O'Leary starting in Term Two. Please read the article to find out more about Peter.

There will be whole school powhiri on Monday 29 April at 11:45am to welcome Angela and Peter to our school and acknowledge the important part they will play in our continued efforts to improve the quality of education at Te Aroha College.
