Special Assessment Conditions (SAC) for NCEA qualifications

TGC —

Special Assessment Conditions (SAC) enable students with specific learning, physical or mental health needs (such as dyslexia. Autistic Spectrum Disorder, anxiety or diabetes) to access additional support for NCEA internal assessments and external examinations. Support may include access to a reader, writer, computer, or extra time, depending on eligibility. Information about SAC conditions can be found on the NZQA website NZQA - Special Assessment Conditions.

Students must apply for SAC conditions by the end of Term 2 each year to enable sufficient time for testing and processing of their application with NZQA, apart from medical conditions which can be accepted until the end of Term 3. No applications for SAC conditions are accepted in Term 4, when the ‘NZQA Derived Grade’ process will be followed. Testing for SAC conditions is generally completed by the college, although supporting letters may be required for medical and mental health needs.

Students and their whānau are invited to a presentation on Special Assessment Conditions (SAC) for NCEA qualifications, which will be held at 5:30-6:30pm in the school staffroom, following the NCEA Information Evening on Wednesday 22nd February 2023, which runs at 5:00-5:30pm. The presentation will cover the eligibility criteria and application process, along with any questions that students or whānau may have.
