The Bay of Plenty Regional Debating competition was recently held at Tauranga Boys’ College.

Forty teams from twelve different schools took part, a record for the competition. Tauranga Girls’ College’s senior team, made up of Aku Gautam, Mina-Rita Ranui, and Pearl Vahey-Bourne, won all three of their debates and narrowly missed out on the final.

Pearl Vahey-Bourne was awarded a Most Promising Speaker prize and has been selected for both the Regional Development squad and the Bay of Plenty Regional team.
