NZQA COVID-related Learning Recognition Credits

TGC —

This week, we received information that NZQA will not be offering COVID - related NZQA Learning Recognition Credits in 2023.

This decision was reached after consultation with the Minister’s NCEA Professional Advisory Group.

Learning Recognition Credits were first used in 2020. Schools and kura were closed for significant periods during 2020 and 2021. With the ongoing effects of ākonga, teacher and kaiako sickness into 2022, both regional and national approaches for the credits were available.

For 2023 we will be able to address the ongoing impacts of COVID-19 through the flexibility built into NCEA and our processes for managing assessment disruption.

The Ministry and NZQA will monitor the situation throughout the year and may reconsider their approach should the environment change.

If you have questions about COVID-related Learning Recognition Credits, please contact our NZQA Principal's Nominee, Emma Talbot etalbot@tgc.school.nz
