The return of the Green Gala at Tauranga Girls’ College was a tremendous success, with the school hall being filled with excited students. The goal of the gala was to promote and celebrate sustainability and green thinking, and the Kaitiakitanga committee hosted it.

All the stalls at the Green Gala promoted sustainability. Some of them were student-led, which included foods such as doughnuts and sausage sizzles. Other sustainable initiatives, such as the Tauranga Girls’ College Opshop and bookstore, where you could purchase amazing secondhand items from students and teachers for only a gold coin. There was also live music from one of our school bands, the Latchkey Kids, who performed phenomenally, which everyone loved. We were also lucky to be joined by the Wednesday Challenge and Envirohub Precious Plastics to further promote a greener lifestyle.

Special shoutout to every from the Kaitiakitanga committee for organising the Green Gala. We can’t wait to see what you put together next year!
