2023 Math Olympiad - Problem-Solving Competition
This week at Tauranga Girls’ College, we celebrated the achievements of students who competed in the 2023 APSMO Math Olympiad - an Australasian Problem Solving Competition.
The APSMO program is offered to extend our more able mathematicians. This year, 30 Year 9 students participated in the competition, with four students achieving results in the top 25% of Australasia and three students achieving in the top 10% of Australasia - an incredible achievement!
In total, four Olympiad competitions run over ten months. Each Olympiad involves solving five problem-solving-type questions in a set time. Students get one mark for each correct response; over the year, they can gain a maximum of 20 marks.
