Congratulations to Year 10 student Shefaa Swailam who was announced as one of the winners of the Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians NZ Groups’ Future Leaders Challenge!

Shefaa had to create a short video explaining an issue facing young women in New Zealand and the actions she thought parliament could take to address it. Shefaa’s video was about women’s underrepresentation in STEM fields, and was chosen as one of 10 winners across New Zealand. She won a fully-funded trip to parliament to enjoy a behind the scenes parliamentary experience in person! The winners will visit parliament in March 2022.
