Mrs Cade —

Nau mai haere mai, it’s hard to believe that the end of Term 1 is already upon us.

Pūwhenua is up and running.

Exciting times ahead! This brand-new modern learning space is more than just classroom spaces —it's a hub for creativity, collaboration, and innovation. Science, Technology, Te Reo Māori, Commerce, and Gateway/ Careers are the main areas working in this space. It has been a big few weeks getting everyone moved in and I want to thank my colleagues for their patience and collegiality during this time. We have high expectations throughout this space. Our PB4L team has created concise and clear expectations so everyone can understand and be respectful of each other in this space.

Summer Tournament Week

Congratulations to all the students, coaches, managers, and whānau for their incredible dedication and hard work at tournament week! Your passion, perseverance, and teamwork truly shone through. Win or lose, your efforts and sportsmanship make us all proud. Please see below for results from the week.

Active learner reports

At the end of the term, active learner reports will be shared via email with whānau. These reports update you, the students whānau around your daughter or young person’s progress enabling you to support their learning journey.

Please take the time to go through the report with your daughter or young person. Te Ara Ako - our parent/ teacher interviews will be held in Week 4 where you can come and connect kanohi ki te kanohi/ face to face with subject teachers. More information will be shared at the start of next term.

Anzac Day

Our students will again proudly represent Tauranga Girls’ at the ANZAC Day commemorations, honoring the bravery and sacrifices of those who served. Standing alongside our community, we will pay our respects through readings, wreath-laying, and reflection on the legacy of our ANZACs. ANZAC Day is a time to remember the courage and resilience of those who fought for our freedom, reminding us of the importance of unity, remembrance, and gratitude. Poppies will be available next week at interval and whānau times (gold coin donation).

International Trip - Vietnam

Wishing all our students the very best as they embark on their Social Science curriculum trip to Vietnam. This incredible journey will be an opportunity to explore history, culture, and global perspectives firsthand. May you embrace every experience, learn from the rich heritage of Vietnam, and create lasting memories. A huge thanks to the staff that have planned this trip and enabled this opportunity for our akonga. Safe travels, and we look forward to hearing all about your adventures when you return.

Production - Cinderella

The combined TGC/ TBC production will be live at Baycourt from Wednesday 07 May to Saturday 10 May.

As we prepare to bring the magical story of Cinderella to life, we want to celebrate the hard work, creativity, and dedication of everyone involved. From the talented cast and crew to the passionate directors and supportive staff, this production promises to be a true showcase of teamwork and artistic excellence. With stunning performances, incredible sets, and the timeless charm of the story, we are excited about the upcoming show and can't wait to share this enchanting experience with you all.  Tickets will go on sale next Wednesday, 9 April, and will be available via Eventfinder.

At the end of the term, we will farewell Mrs Emma Talbot. Mrs Talbot is an experienced and dedicated practitioner both within and outside the classroom. We have appreciated her support as a valued member of our Senior Leadership Team. She has led her Social Science learning area with enthusiasm and has led and strengthened our systems as the Principal Nominee. Mrs Grace Jensen will replace Mrs Talbot as the Principal Nominee. It is time for Mrs Talbot to declare her innings at our kura and we wish her all the best in her new journey at Bethlehem College.

As we look to head into the holiday break I want to thank all of our wonderful staff for their dedication, hard work and commitment to delivering learning opportunities that support our learners to be the best they can be, both within and outside the classroom.

Have a safe and enjoyable holiday break and we look forward to seeing you all back at the start of Term 2 on Monday 28 April.
