Y10 Junior Production
As part of our Year 10 Dance and Drama courses, ākonga participated in the Junior Production.
The Junior Production is a tradition at Tauranga Girls’ College and every session is sold out well in advance to our local Primary Schools. This year the Junior Production was themed: “When I Grow Up!” with scenes and dances from classics such as ‘Matilda’, ‘Frozen’ and ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.’
It was held from Tuesday 26 November to Friday 29 November with five shows to over 1,000 primary school students. A huge congratulations to ALL who were involved. The students did everything; selected and blocked scenes, designed and sourced costumes, made props, and choreographed their dances under the helpful care of their amazing teachers.
A special thanks also goes to our Year 9 students who helped with lighting and introducing each scene. They acted as little kids ready for a dress-up day for ‘ What I want to be when I grow up’. The chocolate inventor, princess, and teacher all helped tie the show together beautifully.
‘On behalf of the teachers and students at Gate Pā School, I want to sincerely thank you for the opportunity to attend the end-of-year show once again. The students loved it, and it was such a special experience—one that our tamariki don’t often get to experience. Everyone had their favorite moments, and in my class, the unanimous verdict was a 10/10! Thank you again, and we’re already looking forward to next year!’ Amanda McDonald
‘OMG, IT WAS AMAZING! I snuck in to watch from 11 am and it was incredible. Such an amazing demonstration of creativity, confidence, and hard work. A massive congratulations to you and the students!’ Alice Hailstone
‘What a fantastic show. Congratulations to you and your Year 10 show-stoppers. They were awesome. The students from Taumata school sat enthralled from the moment the students stepped out in front of them. The teachers and parent helpers from Taumata school were clapping and cheering and laughing beside me. I'm so glad I got to see it.’ Carol Storey
“Thank you so much for inviting us to the Junior Production. I was sitting on the floor amongst my children and they were engrossed.” - Merivale Primary teacher.
