Performing Arts Junior Production
The 2020 Year 10 Performing Arts Junior Production happened last week! This year's production had the theme of Kindness and included original dramatisations of three children stories – Our Place, The Teddy Bear of the Year and Horton Hatches the Egg.
The production featured 85 of our Year 10 students from Dance and Drama classes and was held in the Old Gym. Over 500 Year 1 and 2 students from Merivale, Welcome Bay, Gate Pa, Kaimai Primary, St Thomas Moore, and Tauriko Primary schools attended the production over three performances. We received very positive feedback from our audience:
“The teachers and children were all buzzing when they came back and liked the theme [of] kindness. Great messages coming through” Gate Pā Primary
“What a fabulous show last week. You had those masses of small people engaged even before the actual plays began. A great team of girls met us at the bus and chatted with the children while we got sorted. I use the Our House story every year in my class and we always make big box houses so it was good to see that in dramatic form and they did so well. Our guys were engrossed in the moments and one boy near me was really worried when he sensed the monkeys were going to try and take the egg from Horton. ‘No,’ he shouted, ‘oh my gosh!’ We had lots to talk about later that day.” Merivale Primary
