Year 12 students Kahurangi Ngatai and Kyaria Warbrick are keen to revive Te Whare Wānanga o Mereaira and make it a more welcoming place for our wāhine.

Kahurangi said “It all started when we noticed how deserted and cold the Whare was. We wanted to uplift the wairua of Te Whare o Mereaira by opening it up and attracting more students to hang out at the Whare”.

The girls approached Ms Kanji to share their thoughts and asked if they could purchase some bean bags as their first step in helping the students feel comfortable while hanging out at the Whare and so it begins!
