NCEA Numeracy & Literacy Pilot 2022
During Term 1 we made the announcement that our kura was taking part in the 2022 pilot with the Ministry of Education and NZQA.
This update will give you more details about these Assessment events. This assessment will give students their Numeracy and Literacy requirements for National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA).
We have approximately 340 Year 10 and 24 selected senior students entered for numeracy and literacy assessment event #1.
Dates:
- Literacy Reading Tuesday 28 June 2022 P1 and P2
- Numeracy Wednesday 29 June 2022 P1 and P2
- Literacy Writing Thursday 30 June 2022 P1 and P2
The assessment is digital so it is essential that students bring their chromebook/device to school on all three of these days. It should be fully charged and ready to use.
If your young person does not have a device they should give their name to their Math or English teacher immediately.
During Math periods students have been shown how to login to the NZQA website. If this has not yet been completed, they should speak to their Math teacher as soon as possible. It is vital that passwords are remembered!
Over the next ten days, the students will be shown how to use the Assessment Master platform during English lessons.
Teachers have been working hard to prepare students for these assessment events. All of the students who have been entered are getting opportunities to see and answer questions which we anticipate will be similar to those in the assessment. This is happening across many curriculum areas in our kura.
We are very excited that our ākonga have this opportunity to achieve their NCEA Numeracy and Literacy credits in Year 10.
There will be a second assessment event opportunity for students in September 2022.
Good Luck to all our ākonga sitting these assessments!
