Whanaungatanga Week 2024
2024 started with a bang for our Year 9 ākonga, who had the opportunity to learn and embrace our kura’s values: Manaakitanga, Mahi tahi and Mana Motuhake. Our senior students joined them back at school early so they could answer the burning questions and provide a personal perspective on the ‘Tauranga Girls’ College school life’.
While learning about our kura’s history, the mahi that gets done and the exciting opportunities we offer, new students were actively building strong whanaungatanga by connecting and sharing fun experiences. We highly value whanaungatanga and strong relationships within our kura and encourage the younger students to connect with their peers, teachers and older students who can be good role models and mentors for them.
The Mr Whippy truck also made a surprise appearance - leaving ice cream on noses and smiles all around!
Overall, the week provided an excellent experience for everyone to bond and gain a real sense of belonging here at Tauranga Girls’ College.
