Enrolments for 2021
The enrolment season is well underway and we look forward to engaging with our new families. Enrolments are up again when compared with this time last year, so we look forward to the next cohort of amazing young women coming to TGC in 2021. Enrolment details can be found on our website.

Four school weeks to go for senior students
Senior students leave TGC to undertake final preparations for their NCEA exams in the first week of November. This can often be a stressful time, especially for Year 13 students who are about to embark on life beyond school. The last few weeks at school can make a real difference, so encourage your daughter to be resilient and to seek support from her teachers to make the most of the last month at school. There are many tutorials and revision sessions that are offered each year, and this year will be no exception. Reducing paid hours in paid work (where possible) is also helpful and most employers understand and value the importance of education.

Prize Givings and celebrations this year
Hooray, under Alert Level 1, we will be able to hold our prize givings and celebrations next term. Details to follow but first up is our Arts Celebration on Thursday 15 October at 6:30pm in the school hall, so save this date.

Join our PB4L Team
Our College prides itself on its three values - Respect, Pride and Participation. It is unfortunate then that some girls have made deliberate choices not to model these values. TGC does not accept bystander behaviour, using social media to make unfriendly comments or judgements and certainly does not condone truancy and other such actions that do not reflect its values. It is disappointing when this College provides so many opportunities for students both in and out of the classroom that a small few spoil it for others. I, along with the BoT, continue to ensure that TGC is a safe and valued space for everyone and where students do not do their part in supporting this, disciplinary consequences have followed. It is up to all of us to support our friends and those around us to be positive role models and to take pride in all that we do. So, if you are interested in supporting our PB4L (Positive Behaviour for Learning) Team, then please let us know by responding to our FB post or emailing acade@tgc.school.nz

Vigilance under Alert Level 1
Despite being in Alert Level 1, TGC has refrained from holding full school assemblies this term. MoH officials continue to remind us to be vigilant with gatherings and using social distancing where possible. With only days before the end of the term, it made responsible sense to us to support having smaller gatherings. We will relook at having larger gatherings next term.

What remains important at all times is for everyone to:
Stay home if unwell
Take a COVID test if you have COVID like symptoms
Wash hands/sanitize regularly
Cough/sneeze into your elbow
When not at school, keep up with your contact tracing by scanning using the COVID QR code
Be kind and be remote ready should alert levels change

NZQA says examinations will take place under Alert Levels 1-3
This is great news for our NCEA students. The social distancing requirements may mean we require more rooms and invigilators to supervise students sitting examinations but we have time to put this in place. NO exams can take place if there is a suspected COVID-19 case in our school OR if we are under Alert Level 4.

Spirit Week
Thank you to all the students and teachers who have made spirit week such an enjoyable success. We are proud to be supporting Mental Health Awareness week with our fundraising efforts, but also supporting locals with food trucks on carnival day. A lot of organisation, communication and planning (and planning for the various Alert Levels) has been undertaken by our Head Students. Thank you girls for your amazing leadership and effort to ensure the Term 3 ended with fun and enjoyment for everyone!

Time for well being
As we come to the end of yet another productive but busy term, it is important that your daughter takes some time for her well-being. Eating well, keeping hydrated, getting a good night's sleep are all important amongst studying and socialising.

Enjoy the non teaching break and I look forward to seeing you all again in Term 4!
