Hauora check in time
As we come to the end of another busy term, I remind everyone to ensure they take time to stop, catch up and have some non school time before gearing back up again for Term 2. Whilst this does not mean that no school work should be done, in fact, this could add to stress levels, it is important to take some time to catch up with friends and family and to give service to others.

Road Safety
After a recent freak accident involving one of our Intermediate students, this is another reminder to parents and students to take care when driving to school, crossing roads and with general road respect and safety. Cameron Road is notoriously busy with so many cars on the road. Please take care. Our thoughts have been with the family and students from TiS. I have been in touch with the Principal, and we have offered our support to them.

Can you make a difference
Are you in local business and could support TGC learners through mentoring, sharing your experience, providing opportunities for service or work experience and financial support? We are keen to work with you and provide authentic opportunities for our future leaders, entrepreneurs, sporting greats, politicians, academics and community leaders. If so, contact the Principal, Tara Kanji at principal@tgc.school.nz.

Community consultation
Soon the BoT will be undertaking a community consultation about the future direction of Tauranga Girls’ College. We look forward to your input into this. More information will be shared next term.

Our Champions
If you have been following our FB page, you will have read about the many successes of our students. Whilst most of our girls participate in an activity outside of the classroom, you will note that the accolades come not only in sport but in the arts, culture, music and of course academics. We pride ourselves in developing a stronger sense of belonging and connectedness through living whanaungatanga and with an emphasis of ensuring success for all, no matter what the strength or passion of every student may be. This is why we have so many champions at TGC.

ANZAC Service
Our girls will be representing TGC at both ANZAC services during the holidays and some of this work begins with selling the ANZAC poppy on behalf of the RSA. We look forward to having you join with us at one of the services on Sunday 25 April.

Enjoy the April non teaching break.  Remember that we return to school in winter uniform, details of which are laid out in this newsletter.
