2023 Dance NZ Made Interschool Competition

TGC - Dance —

Tauranga Girls’ College’s NCEA and troupe dancers spent the day at Baycourt Theatre, participating in the 2023 Dance NZ Made Interschool Competition.

During the day, dancers were fortunate enough to attend three inspiring workshops led by highly skilled dancers. The competition aspect of the day provided assessment opportunities for our NCEA dancers and the chance for our troupes to compete against other local acts.

Tauranga Girls’ College took the stage with some fantastic performances, with ‘CAPTIVITY’, a Level 3 assessment dance choreographed by Ella Logan, placing third in the Year 11-13 category, and the conjointly choreographed Level 2 assessment ‘MIDSOMMAR’ placing second. Jazz troupe’s ‘Proud Mary’, led and choreographed by Ayva McOnie and Briar Grace, took the first-place trophy in the open category and second place overall!

Congratulations to our Level 1 dancers, Junior Dance Crew, and Ayva McOnie’s ‘CESSATION’ for their stellar performances.

Individual dancers also had the opportunity to be awarded a ‘Golden Ticket’ to perform and compete at the Dance NZ Made Gold Awards in January next year. Congratulations to this year’s recipients: Faith Shotton-Brown, Sam Cook, Honey Marinas, Briar Grace and Sophie Denham.

Tauranga Girls’ College is hugely proud of ALL of our performers!
