Diwali Celebrations

TGC - International —

The International Committee organised the Diwali Festival of Lights celebration on 27 November in our kura.

Diwali is India's biggest and most important holiday of the year. The festival gets its name from the row of clay lamps that Indians light outside their homes to symbolise the inner light that protects them from spiritual darkness.

Tauira and kaiako participated in traditional Indian activities, including creating rangoli (design patterns) on the floor using coloured powders, painting clay diyas and dancing to Indian music. The food was popular and sold out quickly. There was a queue for hand henna. The atmosphere was festive and enjoyable.
