Tauranga Girls’ College Expectations for Parents - Uniform

TGC —

As a kura, we value your support and the vital role you play in the learning and education of your young person. We value manaakitanga, mana motuhake and mahi tahi, (respect, pride and participation). As we work together to empower your young person for their future, we look to you for support where these values are concerned.

Our expectations are that you can support us as we seek to ensure our learners wear their uniform with pride and respect. Over the next few weeks, we will be paying uniforms particular attention, as the change of season can spark new challenges for uniforms. In the image above, we have clarified for you as whānau about what items of uniform your young person should be wearing.

We will be paying close attention to uniforms from next week. We will contact you if we notice your young person needs more support from you to get this right.

Please support your young person by ensuring they wear the correct uniform items to and from kura. Helping them in this way reinforces our values of mana motuhake and manaakitanga and our shared commitment to the standards we value. It also supports positive conversations about being part of 'Team TGC.’

If there is a good reason why your young person does not have the correct uniform item, please support them by sending them to kura with a note explaining this. This will allow the Dean to provide them with a short-term uniform pass and to contact you for more information. There is also the opportunity that we can support with uniforms if this is an issue through the equity budget.

If you require assistance with uniform items, please speak with your young person’s Whānau Teacher or Cohort Dean. There is a provision to give assistance when required.
