'Hard To Swallow' - Year 11 Drama Production

TGC - Drama —

Te toi whakairo, ka ihiihi, ka wehiwehi, ka aweawe to ao katoa - Artistic excellence makes the world sit up and wonder

On Monday, 19 and Tuesday, 20 June, Year 11 Drama performed Mark Wheeler’s play, ‘Hard To Swallow’, directed by Kelly Vercoe. Based on a true story, this docu-drama told the story of Catherine Dunbar, a young girl who died from anorexia-nervosa.

It was hard-hitting, and the cast and crew did a fantastic job bringing this powerful story to life. With two casts, an ensemble playing multiple roles and students taking on technical roles such as shadow puppetry, sound and costume - there were plenty of challenges and opportunities to shine - and shine they did. Superb job, everybody!

“My son cried and clapped so hard at the end. This should be a show on the big stage. I’ve told my friends about it tonight, and they want to see it. Great job.” Shanan Walker
