The theme for my Level 3 Contemporary Māori Art folio is tūrangawaewae. Tūranga (standing place), waewae (feet), the place that I stand and the place that I am connected to. My tūrangawaewae is my village, Whakarewarewa. The ideas and concepts for my folio are gathered from Whakarewarewa/my whakapapa, and real patterns, real places and real people were used as my inspiration. The use of symbolism, symmetry and select subject matter created a collection of pieces which demonstrates my connection to my culture and portrays my tūrangawaewae.

This folio achieved Excellence and has also been selected for the NZQA Top Art Exhibition.

In years 12 and 13, I was lucky to be chosen to exhibit in the Ringa Toi exhibition at Te Papa, an NZQA national exhibition that celebrates toi Māori. I have also been involved in multiple exhibitions held in Tauranga.
