Library Week

Ella Mitchell —

Week 7 (05-09 September) was Library Week at Tauranga Girls’ College, and our ākonga had a fantastic time participating in a range of library-related activities.

Throughout the week, students could discover their inner authors by participating in the lucky dip creative writing activity, or find a new author to read by taking part in the ‘blind date with a book’ display.

On Tuesday 06 September, students brought out their acting skills with book title charades, while Friday 09 September saw everyone’s artistic talents shine while making mini books.

The event of the week however, was the fictional character themed non-uniform day, held on Thursday 08 September. There were some outstanding costumes made and modelled by our ākonga, leaving the judges with a tough decision when it came to choosing best dressed. The results for best dressed house are as follows:

1st place: Sheppard

2nd place: Mansfield

3rd place: Batten

4th place: Whina

5th place: Te Auetu

Overall, Library Week was a great success with lots of fun had by all. Congratulations to all those who dressed up and took part in the festivities, and thank you to Ms Middleton, Miss Whitaker and the Learning Committee for organising such a fun week!
