Casting Call

TGC —

Two of Mrs Vercoe's former students are studying film at Massey and are set to film a new script ‘Goldfish’ which they hope to enter in a number of upcoming film festivals.

They will be auditioning and shooting in Tauranga with a company of 12+ students from Massey over the summer. And they are looking for ACTORS!

Goldfish is a turbulent and deeply humorous coming-of-age tale. Sisters Ivy and Harper Blackmore navigate the many challenges of childhood, adolescence, and the painful complexities of friendship, love, and identity. At its core, Goldfish explores what it means to grow up, make mistakes, and ultimately, learn that sometimes the people who know us the best, are the ones we can never leave behind.

‘We are hoping to cast local talent and be able to provide Tauranga actors with an opportunity to gain experience in a film context. We are looking to cast several key roles.’

Scan the QR code on the flyer for more details on the roles and audition information.

‘I know both the amazing directors from past schools I taught at they are super organised, kind, and creative. It would be a great experience for any student to go through the process of a proper film audition! And, if you are successful in gaining a part, what an incredible intro into acting for screen. Go for it!’ Mrs Vercoe

Byron was Arts Captain at Tauranga Boys’ College last year and director Libby Fraser was selected for the SGCNZ Young Shakespeare Company to travel to the UK and perform at the Globe in London.

‘My first year has been amazing. The film course at Massey is the perfect balance between on-set production and film theory and I've made two other short films outside of coursework which has been fantastic. Very glad I took the risk and followed my passion as a pathway!’ Byron Bunnings, Director of Photography
