TGC First XV Rugby vs Carson Graham Secondary

TGC —

On Monday 18 March, Te Mana o Taurikura TGC First XV Rugby kicked off their first preseason game against a touring Canadian School Carson Graham Secondary.

The students have been working hard this term on fitness and a new system in preparation for this game. After a tight contest and building multiple combinations, TGC won the game 70-0. There was great sportsmanship by our players, and this was a great game in preparation for the season ahead. Special mention to our Players of the Day Te Kihiora Kuka and Tiana Taiapa who played exceptionally well.

Te Mana o Taurikura (TGC Rugby) is now preparing for its first annual ritual Te Ara o Tarikura which is coming up on Saturday 6 April. As their rugby programme aligns with one of many Tauranga Moana Pūrākau Taurikura, this challenge follows the footsteps of this ancestor from Omanawa Fall to Karewa Island. Our team is ready to put this challenge to the test by completing a run, bike, and walk/run challenge in specific landmarks related to this narrative.

Today I will do what others won’t, so tomorrow I can do what others can’t
