We have been practising our observational drawing skills, including our tonal work, and are working towards creating a diorama based around a whakataukī.
The whakataukī I have chosen is:
Nāu te rourou, nāku te rourou, ka ora ai te iwi;
With your basket and my basket, the people will thrive.
It refers to cooperation and the combination of resources to get ahead. I chose to add a pīwakawaka because it is my favourite native bird of New Zealand.
I plan to incorporate this artwork into my diorama, which will include multiple layers and paintings.
