On Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 July we had four students compete in the North Island Secondary School Indoor Bowls Championships. On Saturday was the singles event which involved Chloe Edwards, Jas Neale and Neisha Hitchcock. Neisha and Jas both qualified for the Championship round with Neisha making the final 16 and Jas the final 8. On Sunday was the pairs event. Neisha and Sophie Denham had a tough draw in the first round so unfortunately didn’t qualify for the championship round. Chloe and Jas had a great competition and made it into the finals. They were up against the previous National Champions from Gisborne Boys' High School and unfortunately they got the win but the girls finishing 2nd is a great result! They played some spectacular bowls and showed extremely good sportsmanship. The girls keep their title of the best team in the Bay of Plenty. They will be heading down to Wellington at the end of August to compete in the New Zealand Secondary School Championships and we wish them the best of luck.
