Board of Trustees Beanbags
What better way to kick off the new school year than with some new outdoor beanbags? After popular demand from students, the Tauranga Girls’ College Board of Trustees sponsored 50 new, colourful beanbags for our wāhine to enjoy.
With a renewed focus on building whanaungatanga (relationships), the new beanbags couldn’t have come at a better time. Since school started back in early February, students have been enjoying the opportunity to use the beanbags and build connections with their peers out in the beautiful Bay of Plenty sunshine.
“I love them,” says Year 12 student Rose Bruning, “they’re super comfy and really add to the school. They create a nice and cozy atmosphere, I love sitting on them with my friends.” The beanbags have also provided many opportunities to connect with new people. Year 9 students Charlie Murray, Elea Hargreaves and Piata Ahipene have all come to the college from different feeder schools and say that the beanbags have been a nice way to relax and make friends. “They’re comfortable and I like the bright colours,” says Charlie.
Year 10 students Trinity Watchorn, Sahara Bruce and Holly Mckeagg have enjoyed using the beanbags on the new decked area outside C Block. Being able to use the beanbags outdoors and enjoy the last month of summer outside has been a real privilege for many students.
A huge thank you from the student body is extended to the Board of Trustees for their spectacular contribution to the school. By the looks of all of the smiling faces, the beanbags have been a real hit and will continue to be well-loved by our TGC whānau.
