Kyla Chen (Year 10)

Last term, our Year 10 art classes have been printmaking. We used a printmaking technique called drypoint etching, where you scribe into a piece of plastic then push the printing ink into the marks and grooves to create a print.

The theme was ‘favourite landscape’. I chose a cityscape and the subject of the print was a drive-in theatre because I love watching movies - especially with my cat who was also featured in the print.

For the initial planning, I drew four compositions and then picked the one I liked the most. I then added detail to it using different lines. Then I scribed the drawing onto the plastic and printed it onto paper.
