L1 Geography Trip

TGC —

Waitomo Caves

The 6.30am start was well worth the Level 1 Geography trip to Waitomo Caves.

The three classes had a blast exploring the adventure tourism and showcaves that the unique environment has to offer. Blackwater rafting was a highlight and thankfully the high running water meant no eels were spotted! The stunning stalactites and stalagmites of the Ruakuri Cave caused many ‘ooh’ and ‘aah’ moments.

For some it was a special moment at the Museum when looking at photos of their ancestors and making those treasured connections. The focus of the field trip is to remind us that we are all kaitiakitanga of Aotearoa’s stunning landscape.
