Hockey season success
Hockey season has come to an end. A great season it was with two teams winning their Championships.
1st XI - competed in the Tauranga competition and finished 2nd guaranteeing them a place in the Secondary Midlands competition. Unfortunately this competition was cut short due to COVID stopping the last two weeks of games. The girls will play in a tournament the last weekend of Term 3.
Championship 1 - TGC 2nd XI verse Otumoetai Junior A, Otumoetai Junior A winning 2 - 0. Therefore runner up for the TGC 2nd XI. This game was a great battle with TGC keeping Otumoetai scoreless in the second half.
Championship 2 Final - Junior A played ACG Mixed, this game was a fantastic game with Junior A winning 1 - 0.
Junior B and TGC Blue played against each other on finals night and it was a very close game with the goal being scored in the last 30 seconds to give Junior B the 1 - 0 win. Both these teams were placed in the Championship 2 pool and were up against some very tough experienced teams throughout the season.
Championship 3 - Our TGC Orange girls played against Aquinas 2nd XI in the final and won 3-1 crowning them champions.
TGC 6 aside team developed well throughout the season in a tough, fast and demanding game. They came up against many mixed teams, boys teams and seniors giving them a tough challenge in some games. But these girls kept their heads up and played well throughout.
Thank you to all the coaches, managers and whānau for their sport and commitment during the season.
