Level 1 Social Science trip to Rotorua
Level 1 Social Science students travelled to Rotorua to participate in regional tourism activities. They are learning about the Tourism industry in New Zealand and this trip was an opportunity to experience it first hand.
Our first stop was on “The Rotorua Duck”. The WWII era amphibious vehicle was a great way to see the natural and cultural features and to learn about the history of Rotorua.
There were shrieks of delight as we drove at speed into Lake Tikitapu (the Blue Lake)! The tour guides were knowledgeable and passionate about their jobs and showed us that tourism is alive and ready to welcome visitors.
Our final stop was to the Skyline Luge. We travelled up on the Gondola and students then raced each other (and their teachers) down to the bottom.
It was a great day out and good to be able to support local businesses and expose students to the tourism industry. A shout out to Uzabus for their excellent service getting us there and back.
