Preparations for EPro8 Semifinals

Ms Jensen —

Our four teams have been busy practising every possible lunchtime in preparation for the Semifinal round of the BOP/Waikato EPro8 Competition. The senior round of the Semifinals will be held on June 6, and the junior round on June 8. We will be travelling to The University of Waikato in Hamilton and have the fantastic ongoing support of Kirk Roberts Consulting and LawVu.

Kirk Roberts Consulting Ltd has generously supported EPro8 at Tauranga Girls’ College. They have helped with registration costs and sent an experienced engineer to talk with all the students interested in engineering, project management, quantity surveying, architecture, and 3D modelling as possible careers. Kirk Roberts Consulting has four divisions KR Engineering, KR Projects, KR Capital, and KR Software and offers a full range of construction engineering disciplines - geotechnical, environmental, civil, structural and fire.

They are very passionate about growing people. We’d love to see more of our students move into highly skilled and rewarding career pathways. STEM initiatives like EPro8 are one way our students can develop an interest in engineering. We’re thankful for Kirk Roberts's ongoing support and hope to make them proud again.

LawVu is a local startup founded in 2015 that has since gone global, providing multiple organisations with a legal workspace for in-house legal teams. Computer Science at Tauranga Girls’ College has a strong relationship with LawVu, with several different groups of students visiting their Tauranga CBD office to meet with employees in a range of different positions within the company and to learn about how the startup created tech to streamline and transform how in-house legal teams had been working.

Many of our students have expressed an interest in pursuing a career in software development, security systems, website development and AI, and having this local support provides students with a visible pathway to careers in tech. LawVu has been keen to continue seeing our students shine in this competition, and we’re grateful for their support.
