The first event for the student-run Spirit Week was the International Showcase.

The showcase displayed a variety of performances from around the world that showed the beautiful diversity in our school. We had dances from Samoa, Tonga, the Kiribati Islands, the Cook Islands, India and China. It was an incredible cultural experience.

The third event in our TGC Spirit Week was the Interhouse Waiata Competition and Teachers vs Prefects Dodgeball game.  The current four houses battled it off to see who could best perform the waiata Tauranga Moana.  Special guests from Tauranga Intermediate and our very own Ms Kanji were our judges and everyone dressed up in their house colours, then the battle was on. After each house performed their house chant and their waiata, the judges picked the winner based on house spirit, accuracy and costume. Congratulations to Rutherford for earning first place and Batten, second place. Mansfield took third place and Freyburg fourth. 

The next battle was between TGC’s teachers and prefects challenging each other in a brutal but fun game of dodgeball. Overall, it was a enjoyable day for students and teachers alike.
