Our Tauranga Girls’ College A and B team competed in the NZ Secondary Schools Squash Nationals this weekend with fantastic individual and team results.

The TGC A team finished 5th, narrowly missing the opportunity to beat the 4th seed Wairarapa College in a tight deciding game lost by only two points, but winning against Marlborough Girls, Katikati College and St Mathew’s Collegiate.  Congratulations to Ella Hill, Nuvraan Kaur, Izzy Brettkelly, Lola Vahey Bourne, Kate Fitzpatrick and Ella Vrieze.

A campaign made a little more challenging with players having injuries requiring team members to play up a position for most games.

The TGC B team seeded 17th, also managing some great wins, having a first round bye, and losing to Marlborough Girls beating local schools Papamoa and Aquinas to improve their seeding by two places, from 17th to 15th.  Congratulations to Brianna Lewitt, Brooke Hughes, Lucie Whitmore, Michelle Clarke, Salma Hassan and Chloe Marlow-McSweeny.
