In the Library
We in the library, want to welcome everyone back to school and wish everyone a happy New Year! We are looking forward to all the exciting things that are going to be happening in the library in 2024.
Thanks to everyone, staff and students, who participated in the Summer Reading programme. Forty-eight students and staff participated in the Mystery Book Bags over the summer; these were well-received and fun to put together. If your young person took books out over the summer holidays, they are due back. Congratulations to Kaea Price, Azia Mustasam and Ms Sheppard for getting a Bingo in the Summer Book Bingo!
Some of the Summer Reading books came back with reviews, and these have been put on display.
The call has gone out for any students who would like to join us as Student Librarians. We look forward to getting to know the new ones and welcoming back those who have joined up before. The Student Librarians help us create displays, cover new books, issue and return books, make bookmarks and more. They are a valued and important part of the Tauranga Girls’ College Library.
The 2024 Reading Challenge has begun! This is open to all students and staff. It is a great way to get back into or into reading. It is also an excellent way to diversify reading or try something new. All forms of reading (magazines, eBooks, Audiobooks, Graphic Novels, Comics, etc.) are valid and accepted in the Reading Challenge.
Blind Dates with a Book are also back this year! These were rather popular in 2023 and always fun to put together. These remove the ‘judge a book by its cover’ factor and focus more on the content.
We are starting the year with a couple of displays celebrating Chinese New Year the Year of the Dragon.
There are eBooks and Audiobooks available from the library through the Wheelers ePlatform.
Remember to visit our homepage to see everything happening in the library and see what is in our collection.
