TGC Dance visible in the community

Dance —

Tauranga Girls' College involvement in the wider Dance community was evident at the latest Champion of Champions competition held at Baycourt Theatre.

At the latest Tauranga Dance Incorporated Competition at Baycourt Theatre our Dance teachers and students were not just dancing on stage but giving service to ensure the event ran smoothly!

Backstage, students Ashley Yorke, Briar Grace, Samantha Cook, Taimana Randall, and Paige McLeod volunteered with music, numbers and app updates! Dance teachers Ms Gill and Miss Gain also supported in running the event. Tauranga Dance Incorporated commented "you are superstars and we couldn’t be without you"!

On stage, our Contemporary Troupe 'Clique' and Jazz Troupe 'New Dorp' were both entered in Tauranga Dance Incorporated's inaugural 'Scholastic Section' for school dance teams. This section is open to all school dance teams, primary, intermediate and secondary. The dances in this section could be group dances, choreographed either by a teacher or the students themselves and can be any style.

Clique placed 2nd in this section and the adjudicator commented on the groups striking opening and well choreographed piece. Be sure to watch their piece in action here:
